I'm having similar issues with my V40 1.6 D2 R design 2014 reg. Its just done 62K. My issues strated about a month ago with low coolant warning signs coming up. Coolant was very low. I took the car to my local garage and he thought it was an airlock. It was ok up to 15 miles and same thing happened. I took it back to my garage who checked the thermostat and it wasn't working properly so they changed it. All was ok for a few days until It happened again! I went back to the garage and they had my car for 2 days, checked the water pump and coolant had been leaking where the water pump is. They changed it and the timing belt at the same time. They took the car to a specialist to have the head gasket tested and all is ok from all the tests. It was running like a dream no issues then nearly 2 weeks later, high engine temperature reduce speed message came up, so I slowed down and temperature went back to normal. I put my heaters on and only one side was working. The car is in the garage as we speak. They are testing the radiator, as it was empty and coolant wasn't flowing into it. Its like its blocked. I have kept on to my mechanic if its the head gasket and he is adamant it's not as all the tests came back clear. I'm at my wits end. I've only had the car 18 months and I'm still paying for it. Sadly no warranty though. Surely this shouldn't be happening on such a young car and low mileage. I'll never have another volvo this has put me right off. I have spent a fortune so far.
