The reduced visibility is a factor though.

About 6 months ago in the town I was coming home and some prat was in the middle of the road, likely drunk! I couldn't see him at first and when my lights picked him up I slammed on the brakes and swerved banging the horn!

Had it been daylight I would of seen him in the distance and had ample time to slow down.

Both daylight and nightime have their own dangers though. Rush hour can be hectic I agree.
