As you see I really have neglected this thread so my apologies and my thanks to all those who responded above.

We did it and it went without a hitch. As it was a road trip we avoided ferries so drove from Sussex to the tunnel then Calais to Hamburg and up through Denmark and across the bridges into Sweden then up to Gothenburg.

Great reception by Lise-Lotte Kolmburger, the Volvo Museum customer relations manager, then returned by the same route.

We did the 2200 miles in less than five days without a hitch. We were stopped by three very apologetic Danish policemen in a village who just wanted a good look at the car as she looked like new.

It was brilliant and highly recommended.
