" I hadn't thought about the caliper hoses"

Be prepared for the inner caliper hose fitting to the metal pipe connector to break. The metal pipe tends to seize onto the nut and spin when you turn the nut to undo, ending up with a damaged pipe, needing replacement. Volvo use DIN flares on their pipes.

Hi all
Just thought I would update this post. In the end I decided to have another go at refurbishing my calipers. I ordered a caliper refurbishment kit from Ebay. I bought the one mentioned in JohnHenley's post, which contains a dust cover fitment tool that is used to press the reinforced seal ring onto the caliper.

Having checked and cleaned the piston and changed the inner seal ring, I fitted the dust seal over the piston until the seal sat in the groove and pushed the piston a good way in. I then placed the fitment tool onto the seal and using a caliper wind back tool and a bit of wood, pushed the seal onto the caliper.

With the fitment tool available, this is a fairly easy job. Unfortunately, one of the caliper dust seals had disintegrated and the pistion was badly corroded, so I will have to buy a new caliper for that one.
Hope this helps someone.
