2011 xc60 250k miles auto gearbox low performance

Hi Volvo fans.

Had auto gearbox fault around (low performance) 4 times in past year with no issues, yesterday come on fault and gear changes was with big kicks.

As I'm mechanic, i want to change gearbox.

Following question.

My car

Volvo xc60 d5 2011 AWD 250k miles
Gearbox code is 36050943 FT80-SC

Does any gearbox with ft80-sc will run on my car? Because i can't find exact 36050943 code gearbox.

You’ll need one from a xc60 AWD d5 post 2010my up to my 14 and you will need to transfer over the TCM. Getting one from any other engine/car will likely have the incorrect final drive ratio

Just a thought, have you ever changed the gearbox fluid?

Volvo say it's life time and doesn't need changing unless it's been used for a taxi or heavy towing.

I changed the gearbox oil in my 123k mile XC60 a couple of weeks ago using the sump dump method, and it's transformed the gear changes.

However unlike yours, I didn't have any issues with the gearbox, it just changed hard and held onto the gears for too long.

I'm now going to do a post on the forum in case anyone is interested.

To be correct volvo do not and never have used the words "sealed for life" because oil change is in the schedule.( attached)
It is up to the service adviser to determine when it would be best for the oil to be changed by talking to the customer about the use the car is getting.

After working professionally on them for decades I would advise the oil is changed between 72000 and 100,000 miles on an averagely used car, the oil will still have a red tint on those. That's a good way for determining if the oil needs changing.. If it is not red change it...
