Question Towing with XC60 D5 AWD SE Lux Auto

Hello all, My history is Volvo for about 46 years. Last one was 850 glt Auto 20 years old which we had for 13.5 years and sold this year. But iVolvo is in my blood, and the secod Kia is up for sale now as the 2010 XC60 is on the way. Has anyone any experience of towing a caravan approaching 1695kg with an XC60 auto?

I tow a 1500kg caravan & a 4 wheel car trailer carrying all sorts on it with an XC60 SE LUX. The car is incredibly stable and power in abundance albeit it does have the polestar upgrade.

It never feels that it is working at anywhere near its capacity & feels quite relaxed whatever is hooked up behind.

I am sure that you will love it.

Mike

Been towing 1500Kg with my Xc 60 D5 Auto for just coming up to two years.

It has been perfect, we are out every other weekend and in some pretty horrendous weather but nothing phases it at all.

Just swapped to a slightly lighter 'van that we will be towing for the first time this weekend, on the tow home from the dealers it felt like we were towing fresh air!

Sadly our XC60's days are numbered, with over 40000 miles on the clock in two years it is time for a change .... got a V60 Cross Country D4 AWD Auto on order for January.

we regularly tow a twin axle at 1750kg behind our XC60 D5, its well on 95% weight ratio but has never struggled or put a wheel out of place regardless of weather. Its an amazing tow car......it currently has close on 72,000 miles on the clock, but I don't see it leaving the family for some time.

Some information about towing with an automatic on this thread.
It says to select the gears manually to avoid over heating the gear box.

A friend of mine bought an XC60 D5 auto in September after many years of running LR Freelanders. He is delighted with the way it tows his 1600kg van and reckons is is light years ahead of the Land Rovers in comfort, fuel consumption, power and handling.
