Default GEARBOX/ENGINE SEAL ON 740 AUTO

Hi All
Have a 1991 740 estate (2 litre, with auto) which has a fairly significant leak from around the seal where the gearbox mates to the engine.
Can anyone offer any advice as to a (straightforward and easy!) cure, which would be very much appreciated?
Cheers
S

You should be able to tell which oil is leaking - gearbox has ATF which is red and thinner than engine oil. I'd put my money on rear crank seal on engine. The seal is little money but fitting it is a box out job, fitting seal is only a few minute job then. Quiote a hefty lump to remove but not too bad on ramp. Gearbox specialist or independent is way to go - phone round for quotes.
