Key fob not working on XC60 - 2019
Hi,
I'm hoping I can get some help here, apologies if this is the wrong sub forum too. I have a Volvo Xc60 Edition T4 Auto, Year: 2019 and one of my key fobs has stopped working. I replaced the battery but it just doesn't work at all and I'm worried my remaining fob may do the same. Any one know why this might be the case and do I need to re-connect it somehow or replace it all together and if that is the case, how do I do that? Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks, Ben |

Was it a Duracell battery? The Bitrex coating on those can cause problems.
Also, lesser known brands can cause issues. Panasonic seems to be a good choice.

I'm sure you will have checked (and apologies if this sounds condescending - it's not meant to be!) but some of these batteries have a clear plastic round sticker on the reverse which obviously needs removing. I mention it because a friend of mine had this problem - he just popped the battery out of the wrapper and straight in to the fob without checking.
As mentioned by Lexman above, the quality of the battery varies hugely. I replaced mine and a week later it wouldn't unlock the car (the app came into good use there!). I thought it couldn't be the battery but it was. It wasn't a decent quality one so I replaced it with a better make. Interestingly I usually keep my phone and keys on separate pockets but hadn't for a few weeks. Someone said that a phone can affect the key battery so who knows? Hope you get it sorted but it's worth trying a different battery first - certainly could be cheaper. |
