  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way

Unhappy too much fuel

have 1984 244dl runs way to rich loads up cant keep it running
possible bad coolant temp. sensor ? causing it to dump too much fuel?
any info.would be helpful. thanks kevin

Temp sensor fault will cause it to overfuel on hot start but should start from cold. I presume you have a cat on the car as you are in the USA - this could be bloked causing it to not run.

Smile To much fuel

If it is the B23E type fuel system, try checking the the fuel pump relay which are renown for problems, it also sends power to the fuel pressure regulator and auxiliary air valve, if they are not getting a power supply from the relay then they cannot heat up to the correct operating settings, and will stay in cold start possition and supply to much fuel, there should be a 12 volt supply when ignition on in the running position at the square connector on each unit.
