Default S60 2.5T

I have recently bought an S60 2.5T after owning a T5 for 3 years.
I am considering a ECU upgrade which it is claimed will increase the power quite considerably.
I have no experience in this field and was hoping someone could advise me wether it is OK to do this.
What are the pitfalls?
What are the gains?
Can you recommend someone?

Hi Lewis,
I have only just purchased a S60 T5 and will be chipping it shortly.I have in the past used a company called volvo tuning ,my previous car 850 T5 was transformed by the chip upgrade ,it increased power by aprox 65bhp and increased torque substantially ,without reliability issues or adverse fuel economy .The contact is Adam ,i spoke to him regarding my own car the S60 T5 which is 250bhp standard with the auto box ,he said to me safely i could expect 310bhp ,with the manual ,340bhp.

If you look at there site volvotuning.co.uk you should find them.

Hope this helps

Jason

Thanks for the information in your reply.Do you know what reaction I can expect for my local dealer when the car goes in for service?
Will they know its been modified?
How does it affect my warranty?
Thanks for putting me in touch with Volvotuning, they seem to be the guys to go to.

Thanks again
Lewis

Hi Lewis ,
I would not tell the local dealer about the upgrade,it may void your warranty,as far as i know the chip cannot be detected ,unles the car is taken for a run,you may need Volvo tuning to clarify this though.
Volvo tuning are good ,let me knowhow you get on.

Hi Jason
I just got back from Spain today so apologies for not replying earlier. When I got back there was a reminder from my Volvo dealer that my 12 month service is due so I,ve booked that in for this Friday.
When thats done I am 99.99% certain that I will be going to Volvo Tuneing to get the basic ECU upgrade.
I am still harbouring some small reservations because it seems a lot of the cars mentioned on these pages are older models that dont have the warranty issue to worry about. Is this the case?

The BSR PPC system allows you to switch from tuned to standard settings as often as you like...

Hi Jason
I have just recieved a message from a company called BSR suggesting a BSR Stage1 PPC Upgrade. They are claiming a little more power increase but with the versatility of performing the upgrade yourself from your own PPC.This has obvious advantages as you can return it to its basic settigs at any time and visa versa.Do you know the company or its product?

Hi Lewis,

The BSR is a good product. You can buy it from us too, but you can also take advantage of our pre and post diagnostics and testing service we include. So if you choose BSR, we can either send it to you in the post and you just upload it yourself, or alternatively (and perhaps the better solution) you can drop by our workshop and have us install it for you and show you how it's done, and also have us perform all the usual checks before and after. Any issues can be sorted while you wait. You then take the BSR programmer away with you knowing that all is ok.

You can also opt for a dyno run before and after on our brand new 1000 bhp dyno. It's being delivered and installed this month.

Adam.

Adam
Thanks for your reply.I did not know you also were able to provide the BSR programmer.I think this is going to be the best option for me living so far away .As I said previously my car is being serviced tommorow so I will be in touch next week. What kind of increase can I expect 0-60,and top end?
