740 GLE Auto Estate for sale

[Purple 740]

For sale (with some reluctance) is our 1987 740 GLE Auto family wagon. This is a really nice 'practical classic' 740 having been owned by Volvo enthusiasts throughout its life. She has been used as a 740 Estate should be used but also very well maintained, especially by me as I have spent far too much getting this car running right. Recent work includes new injectors and fuel system rebuild, cambelt, starter motor, rear callipers, all fluids changed -the list just goes on and on with most work undertaken by Volvo specialists.

The body is in metallic silver with that nice hint of green, a few bumps and scrapes as per a 25 year old car and she is fitted with 240 Torslanda cross-spoke alloys for an retro eighties look. Interior is all good with green velour seats. When the headling fell off we cleaned and painted the backboard and it doesn't look too bad - even in purple, hence the user name. Easy to change to another colour if not to your taste... The speedo was replaced at 80K so mileage around the 135K mark now. And the fuel guage works! She has just sailed through another MOT and is taxed to Dec 2012.

Sadly I need to thin down my fleet due to a new classic car resto project so this car and some others now need to go. I am well aware that 740 prices are rock-bottom at the moment so I'm open to any offers - I would far rather she went to a good home as she will continue to give years of loyal service. Sorry - yes should have said its a 2.3 engine and I will take some pics this weekend and upload if time permits - will certinly get some pics up at some point.

The pics for my 740 Estate are now attached. She will go on ebay shortly as space is needed - she is currently outside my mothers flat and the clock is ticking... Also, she has suffered the return of an old cold starting fault in that she needs 2-3 turns to start. She always starts and once warm the problem goes, so could be cold start system etc. We fixed this once before and I really can't be bothered to do it again, so price will reflect this now.
