Hi all. Here is my father's V70 TD, which I am selling as he is no longer able to drive. I have been using it since August, when I replaced a few minor things: O/S/F indicator lens, O/S wing mirror, coolant and oil change, AC re-gas, then drove it to Italy and back, without a single blip.

Since then, I have had it looked at by an independent Volvo dealer, who has advised on most of the mechanical issues below. I have another car, so don't want to spend money fixing this, but it is a fantastic, comfortable, practical and cheap-to-run vehicle with plenty of life left in it with a bit of TLC.

It has been well looked-after and serviced regularly (sometimes at great expense), and has spent most of it's life in rural Devon. Unfortunately we can't find the service history, however. It is currently in central Manchester.

Good points:
2.5 5cyl Audi turbo diesel - 140bhp/290Nm & 45mpg
Manual gearbox
Tow bar
Alarm & immobiliser
Fold-down front passenger seat, removable rear seats
Original Volvo floor mats
Excellent 8-speaker CD-changer/cassette sound system
SE and Winter option packs - electric windows, mirrors, 5-spoke alloys, roof rails, rear spoiler, fog lights, aircon (re-gassed this summer), built-in child seat, trip computer, cream half-leather (heated front) seats, traction control, headlamp wash/wipe - all working except one fog lamp needs a new bulb

Not-so-good points:
Obvious paint cracking on bonnet
Various scratches and minor dents (no corrosion to speak of though)
Right rear door only opens from inside
Rear wash/wipe doesn't work (pump does however)
Handbrake cable snapped
Rear right trailing arm bushes gone (clunking noise when driving over bumps)
Front drop links need replacing (rattling noise from front suspension)
Shocks need replacing all round
Small chip in windscreen (passed last MOT with it)

Personal opinion, and you probably don't want to hear it, but I read it and thought - not a bad resto job for £100.

On re-reading I realized there is another nought on the end!

Personally, I think my valuation is about right given the work it needs.
