Default Smell from A/C

Hi guys,

I'm driving a 99 S40 T4 with 150K on the clock.

Just wondering has anybody ever encountered a musty smell from the vents after turning on the a/c? It doesn't happen everytime but maybe every 2nd or 3rd time.

The only thing that I'm wondering is would it be caused by a dirty pollen filter which I haven't gotten round to check just yet. Also on a rare occassion I've gotten what looks like misty dry ice coming out the vents. Not sure if the 2 problems are related.

Its caused by bacteria building up in the A/C system. You can get a spray cleaner that wil kill it all off and works very well but you will need to change the pollen filter as well or its a waste of time really.

Ditto the above, plus the 'dry ice' is normal. Depends on relative humidity, temperature etc etc etc, but a bit of a mist at times from the vents with a/c is normal.

De-bugging the system is a DIY job, with a can of aircon cleaner from a motor shop. In the UK the tins cost around a £10, it's dead easy to do, and it works.
