850 ABS Control Module Removal
Hi all,
I've got my MOT fast approaching on my 850 and I'm becoming increasingly aware that my ABS and TRACS light is on more often than it isn't. I've tried the credit card trick which worked for last year's MOT but it's really time the ABS control module to be removed and repaired since I doubt it'll behave enough to pass its MOT. I tried making a start on removing the module a few months back but had difficulty removing the bolts. I'm worried that the bolt heads are slightly stripped. Managed to get one out but the others weren't budging. Can anyone offer advice on how best to remove it? I'm going to have another stab at removing the bolts but I'm not sure where I can go from there if that fails. My mechanical knowledge is quite limited so I'm trying to avoid anything too complex! Alternatively, any suggestions on places in the Glasgow area I can visit that can help with removing it would be fantastic (and approx. costs too!). Ideally southside but I'm happy to travel if need be. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers. |

Try Central Garage in Johnston. I've been using them since 1986 and they've never failed anything yet. 01505 320492

If the heads are ok you can use a 4mm socket, on a 1/4" drive ratchet. It should be a reverse torx socket but 4mm does fit. There is little room to manoeuvre but you can do it. Remove the air cleaner and pipe if that helps. Once you are happy the bolts undo, you need to pull one set of thick wires off and the other set of thinner wires kind of lifts up and off!
