Question 1997 V40 Rattle

Hi,
I've been having a little problem with an engine rattle. All I can work is that it seems to be top end, like a cam knock or a sticky lifter etc. Any common cylinder head problems?

The noise gets worse when you let off the throttle to change gear or slow down, but is still there when idling. It doesnt seem to be there when the engine is under load. Strangly it doesnt seem to have affected the performance

Anyone had this problem before? How did you get around it?

What about changing the oil viscosity?

Thanks in advance

James
