Amazon wheel nut torque
Bit Anorak-y, I know, but what is the tightening torque for steel wheels on an Amazon. My Data book gives 96-130Nm, which seems a bit odd, since 240s are only 85Nm.
Any ideas? thanks, James. |

James;
I can't remember the last time I measured the fastening torque for wheel nuts, and around here, we would do this in ft/lbs anyway, but I'd estimate 50 ft/lbs (maybe it's actually listed in the Haynes manual)...and I always have anti-seize on the threads and conical mating surfaces of wheel and nut, to minimize stiction and allow for coming into the final torque smoothly...and allowing loosening with a hand-wrench on the road if that is ever needed in the case of a flat tire. PS; ANY wrench is a torque wrench because any wrench applies torque...the device which measures torque is a torque-gauge...making those fancy gauges which click when a set torque is reached: Torque Limiting Wrenches. Thank you! Cheers |
