Car just won't start
Hi all, I need help!!!!
I own a 2005 s60 D5 185hp, went out the other day to start the car and it would turn over, but would not fire. I checked the glow plugs with a battery and they were all working fine I then found I was getting no power to the glow plug cap. Found that the glow plug relay had blown and got a new one. Came home and fitted the new relay thinking this would sort the starting problem but no, things can't be that simple. The glow plugs are now heating with the new relay but still it will not fire. Could the car have went into safe mode (is there such a think, I'm clutching at straws) because I had thought about taking the battery out to see if this would reset something in the car.. I have checked my mass airlow sensor with a friend of mine who has the same car and year and it was working fine in his. Any ideas would be much appreciated. |

i would check you getting fuel to the injectors. if you crack open the fuel pipes on top of the injectors a couple of turns then crank it over and see if fuel comes out. They say your not supposed to do it this way but its the best way to se if your getting fuel to the injectors. I have replaced a few high pressure fuel pumps in the past for this problem when i was with volvo.

could be a faulty injector, changed many for excessive leak off, unclip the thin return pipes from the top of all the injectors, then crank and see if 1 injector leaks off excessively.
