I had my car MTE'd by Don of Kalmar Union and have noticed no drop in MPG and I don't exactly drive slowly. The extra poke is hard to resist I must say

I've been checking a lot lately and I am finding a consistant 3mpg difference in long distance driving ( I do this a lot) between non RICA and RICA maps in my V70 T5 |

A BSR remap gives me improved economy if I'm driving carefully - eg motorway cruising - worse if I'm nailing it.

I've recently had my petrol auto s80 2.5t re-mapped (BSR) and I have to say that, mpg wise, I now have wider extremes. If I decide to waft about with my best attempt at having a light right foot the mpg has improved. For instance, I used to be able to manage 34mpg between Preston and Nottingham (mostly motorway, some A-roads, plus some minor roads at either end) and I having just done the run again I just got 35.5mpg so that suggests a 1.5mpg improvement. On the otherhand if I give in to my more natural form of driving (and I have had a number of lapses!) the net result is a 0.5mpg overall drop to 27.5mpg combined. This is not as bad as I expected or as I at first experienced.....when i first chipped it I went out for a drive to see how things had changed and managed 15mpg for the next 50miles!!!! Flooring it from about 30mph no longer results in a 1-2 sec delay when nothing happened to a sudden kick in the back as the kickdown kicked in. It all seems to happen all at once in a smooth progression now.
FYI, fuel economies are read off the trip computer, but as a caveat to this I have verified that it does read within 0.1mpg by the old distance travelled and litres fill up method |

more fastness is thirsty.
Best way to look at it is.... I have a powerful car, it gets 27mpg normally (suck it up) On the occasions that I drive like my mother in law is in the car I can get 32. (bonus)

well said suterman.
Mpg vs remaps. If you drive at the same speed, and accelerate at the same speed, ie say you always sat at 80, and took x seconds to get to 80. You get a remap, and drive at 80, and still take x seconds to get to 80, then you will get more mpg. The time you find it doesnt work liek that is when you still sit at 80, but every time you are under 80 and accelerate back to 80, with the same throttle position as before the map, you do it quicker and your mpg stays roughly the same say, your car is still more efficient, it's doing the same steady state speed but accelerating quicker in it's acceleration periods, for the same amount of fuel, so your still getting more use from the fuels energy. Basically, remaps by skilled people are good, get one. if you want fuel economy, give up on fast cars and buy a £500 vauxhall calibra with more power in the sound system than the engine, and drive around slowly lol.
