144 Steel Front Wing
Hi Kevin
Perhaps a bit too early into the thread for any response, but I seem to recall many years ago a club member with the same enquiry finding it difficult to locate a supplier for the correct steel wing. The advice that was thrown about at the time was to fabricate a plate and weld into the upper indicator apperture in a 1973 wing and then cut out the lower one etc. I am sure you knew this line of attack anyway. You never know a wing a may just pop up out of the blue as New/Old Stock. All the best Bryan ________________________________ 1973 144s DL |

G'day.
Three years ago I wanted a steel wing (n/s) for my '71 144; Braydons http://www.braydonmotors.co.uk/ quoted somewhere in the region of £225 plus, I think, VAT and delivery for a brand new, from the Volvo factory, steel wing - I got a new glass fibre wing from Smith & Deakin, of Worcester http://www.smithanddeakin.co.uk/ for approx £95 delivered. The mould was taken from an early 144, with the narrow indicator fitting low down on the wing; this had to be cut out, the rear of the wing had excess material to be removed and the various mounting holes had to be drilled out but it is on and painted and looks the biz! All the best in your search, C.A. Last edited by Citizen.Agfa; May 25th, 2009 at 14:12. Reason: Appalling punctuation! |
