Default Reg Transfer ?

Hi
Just a quickie does anyone know the procedure for reg transfer

I've just bought a new private plate via DVLA and have received the V750

I wish to keep ownership of the existing plate on the vehicle as this is a private plate as well, just not going to use it on a vehicle for a few years.

How to I retain ownership of the plate that's on my car at present?

Ta

The top form on this page is the one you need to retain it.

cheers, looks like it will cost be £155 to retain it for 3 years

You can apply to remove a registration number from a vehicle and hold it on a retention document (V778) for 1, 2 or 3 years if you’re the registered keeper of the vehicle.

You can retain the registration number in your name or someone else’s name. This costs:

£105 for 1 year
£130 for 2 years
£155 for 3 years
You’ll need the retention document when you want to assign the number to a vehicle again.

thanks

Worth noting that when you come to transfer the plate back onto another car, you don't have to pay again. There should be something on the retention document that says "the assignment fee has already been paid".
