Default XC60 AWD fuel consumption

My wife bought an XC 60 AWD185 ps geartronic 2 months ago, a big selling point for me was the rated fuel consumption figures of combined 37MPG. Unfortunately she is only getting 27 MPG! This is no better than we were getting on our Discovery 2 doing similar journeys. I wonder is anyone else out there getting close to the quoted fuel consumption?
Currently just over 8000 miles so should be well "run in". Also my 6yr old Audi A6 in similar VED bracket for CO2 emissions gives around 38mpg on similar type of journeys.

Difficult to answer this, as you have not detailed what type of driving your wife does.
If it is short runs to the supermarket, school runs, etc, then I would expect the fuel consumption to be high.

From my point, I have just travelled just over 21000 miles in my XC60 D5 and have averaged, 37.6 mpg, from new.

In mine (although this is the 205bhp version - Geartronic) my avg is around 32mpg over 7000mls so far.

I'd have been surprized if you got the claimed fuelefficiency...

My Geartronic AWD V70 just barely gets to 34mpg, and is dropping off cause I did not do any long runs recently.

And we drive VERY carefully/fuel efficient...

When I got the (ex police) car, the computer showed about 20% worse (in liters per 100km, but converted this would be about: ) ~27mpg.

getting about 33mpg - only done 1500 miles from new so expect it to improve over time. Weekly runs to work which is 6 miles away on A and B roads roads.
Weekends tend to be longer runs from Preston to Cumbria.
spec is in my signature

205PS version

Averaging about 33MPG, best so far was 35.9, but only for a short time on a motorway. Done 4000 miles.

Something worth noting is that I get just as good consumption at 75MPH as 65MPH.

Default XC60 fuel consumption

Thanks to all the reply's, Mostly the journeys are short 6 mile drives to and from school or 8 mile drive on B road to and from work but even on longer 20 mile drives at steady speed of 60 and under the trip computer has not read over 28mpg.
I am wondering if something is wrong as prior to this she drove a D2 Land Rover Discovery which returned similar MPG figures on similar driving conditions.
I have asked the dealer to check the car out but I can't think of a mechanical reason the engine should be delivering consumpion figures so wide of the quoted MPG.

I take it this info is based on the computer. Have you tried the old fashioned way of filling up doing some miles then filling up again. Just a thought - it might be the computer ?

It certainly is in my case.

From experience in Volvo's, these computers misread about 10%. Need to double check!

My 2009 XC60 D5 Auto has averaged approx 27mpg over 6500 miles BUT probably getting on for 3000 miles of that was towing a caravan so overall I am quite happy.

I have not checked the actual consumption against the computer but after the next time I fill it up I will do so just out of interest.
