Default Chrome alloy problems

I recently bought a used C30 with the chromed Zaurak 17" alloys. I've noticed a couple of bits of corrosion (bubbles) on the face of them and am having problems with tyres deflating - they've been resealed at least once. I'm wondering whether there's some corrosion on the rim that's preventing them from sealing properly. Has anyone had any similar problems with corrosion on these wheels?

Not with these wheels but with almathea, I think it's a fairly common problem. IMHO the problem will more than likely be corrosion creeping under the paint where the tyre contacts the rim.
The solution is a proper refurbishment or I have personally cleaned the inside rims with a clean and strip wheel and repainted to provide a smooth contact surface, this cured the problem of having to top up the tyre every few days.
If you have a spacesaver spare wheel and want to keep the car on the road you will need to buy a second hand wheel to use (I had to) while you refurb one wheel rim at a time, I guess you could always sell it again when you have finished all four !

Just bought a Zaurak alloy as a spare for my S40 D5. Got it via 247 spares from Continental Car Breakers in Mansfield. Can't recommend them enough for service. Their Volvo specialist (cant recall his name) was excellent. They have/had another 2 Zaurak wheels, tho' unsure whether chromed.

My main dealer told me that the wheels can be covered under the anti-corrosion warrenty so might be worth a check? although when my car was 4 years old he did say that might be too late.....
