Cool retro fitting twin cabs

hello one and all!

It's been a while since I've asked anything so I thought I'd have a go with this

I have my old B23E, fule injection, and I now want to fit it with some nice big twin carbs, can anyone tell me if this a feasabile idea and if it is worth doing?

And can anyone tell me how to do it

regards andi k

Absolutely possible.
Basically you need one of these (apart from the carbs, that is):

Available from SAM Steffansson or KGtrimning, both in Sweden.

I am quite ignorant regarding the technical details apart from the obvious points, there may also be legal issues with regards to emissions etc. to consider.

As for the costs, twin Weber intakes to fit the B21/B23/B200/B230 sell for 1800 SEK new:
http://www.kgtrimning.com/insug.htm
It should be possible to track down a used one though. I believe they allow twin Webers in some of the race series where the 240/740s are popular cars.

Question Twin carbs

If your planning to use the original head, you will need to seal off the injector ports or leave the injectors in to seal off the holes.

hello, my basic plan is to (I already have the engine on a stand) is to repaint, replace the water pump and a few other bits etc, remove the fuel injection and drop on some carbs

Don't forget the fuel pump. Carbs will be a bit overwhelmed by the electric pump. Probably best to just fit a mechanical one from a carb equipped car.

You will need a auxillary shaft if your shaft hasn't got the lobe machined for a manual fuel pump.
You have to remove the main pump under the car and fit some new fuel pipe, the intank pump can stay.
Fit manual pump, fuel injected cars have a blanking plate held on by 2 bolts, there is also a plastic spacer between engine and pump approx 10mm thick,
If your new manifold is not water heated/cooled you'll have to fit some insulating spacers between the carb and manifold or the fuel in the float bowl will boil away at hot shutdown leading to problematic hot starting, there are single and double stromberg/SU manifolds for the b21/b23/b230 fitted as stock although i should imagine the doubles are like rocking horse poo to find as they are from the early 70's ie early 200's with b21's.
