Default Map Update

HI Guys, apologies if this has already been asked, but I noticed today that my V90 has a notification to upload the maps... superb it's not a difficult job, the last time I did the update was about 3GB, today's update is 42GB!!! the main reason for that is that it covers the whole of Europe right the way through to the east coast of Russia. I only need the maps for the UK, France, Germany & Benelux, but they are all separate updates.

The question is, am I able to just download those updates separately?, or do I have to upload the HUGE file?

You can update separate regions but I believe you need to do it one at a time, as I think the car only recognises one update file per USB stick.

It will be much quicker to update the whole of europe via a USB in one go than to update the ones you require individually.

the issue with that, is it's 43gb, it'll take forever to download.. but I'm sure you are right!

It does not take that long to download, I have only downloaded the full map update once and I think it took about 40 minutes.
Just ensure your usb stick is completely empty or it wont work when you plug it in the car and you will have to delete it all and start again.

I get a 40Mbps (measured) download speed on my fibre connection at home and a full Europe map (~45GB) takes between 2.5 and 3 hours.

If you just want the UK & Ireland (plus Iceland) you could download the North West Europe regional map which is ~2GB:

As others have said, you can download "Iceland, Ireland, United Kingdom" with a 2Gb download.

Personally I am spoilt - I have 350+Mb download speed at home. So the full Europe 46+Gb only takes 20-30 mins to download to a USB, and the usual 45-60 mins to install in the car.

I have only once downloaded the smaller "Iceland, Ireland, United Kingdom" download OTA, and that got Sensus's knickers in a bit of a twist. every other day it would report there was a map update, though when I said to install it OTA is said the version was the same as already installed. Not a major issue, but annoying. I even downloaded the full European download to USB and tied that route. But it would not install, saying a newer version was already installed.

I cannot remember how long the "Iceland, Ireland, United Kingdom" map took to install, but others report it takes about the same time as the full Europe one does: 45-60 mins

Like I said, I am lucky to have a fast connection, so for me it is not an issue to download the 46+GB file. Can you leave yours downloading overnight? Do you know someone close who has a quick connection (and unlimited usage )?

First time download of Sensus Navigation. And I’m getting an error message when selecting ‘run’ to install the download manager. Saying unexpected error occurred. Contact support.volvo.com

Am I doing this wrong? Or do I just drag and drop the Sensus update did file to the usb?

Ensure the USB is completely empty. When you download it will ask where you are downloading to. Make sure you choose the USB drive and download directly onto the USB.
