XL tyres for towing?
Hi all,
I'm just about to order some new rear tyres for the V70. Is there an advantage to the higher load rating XL tyres or are the standard '88' rating tyres ok? I imagine standard would be fine as it's only an extra 75kg on the tow ball but thought I would gauge opinions before I order. Thanks

In my case of tyres the XL were only a fraction more. The S80 executive I had was supposed to run them any. When I transfered the wheels over to the V90 I have just continued to replace with XL tyres as it does sometimes get well loaded.
Ride is no harsher with them so having the extra safe load capacity is a good thing in my eyes. |

Thanks for the reply. I do normally go for the XL on my C70 as I like the idea of a slightly stronger side wall and I agree there doesn't seem to be much difference in ride, but for some reason XL tyres seem to be quite limited for the V70, probably because it's only 15 inch wheels.
Maybe my original question should have been shall I settle for a different tyre that's XL rated rather than get the tyre I want at a lower rating?

Not much choice of XL tyres in 15 inch. You might have to settle for normal tyres.
Good choice in 17 inch so keep your eyes peeled for cheap 17 inch wheels |
