Default S/V/XC60 Recall for Manual 2010-15 Cars

Is there anywhere on this site or on Volvo UK site that covers recalls ?

Came across this today
http://jomomag.blogspot.co.uk/2015/0...brake-may.html
which says that all manual S/V/XC60 model cars ( plus 70 and 80 series models ) with stop/start are due a recall for potential electronic parking brake failure.

Anyone heard of this ? Is it official ?

That 6 digit Id number they are quoting, is that part of the VIN number that we can check if our's is due a recall ?

The whole bloody system is a failure. Hopefully they will rip it right out and put a better designed system in.*

*for the record this will arm when I turn the engine off and take the key out like all the other systems and have the button in a sensible place working the right way round.

Yes it is official , you should get a letter IF your car is involved , as with any recall worry , your dealer is the primary source of information they will tell you if your car is involved .

It's not foolproof though. I still got letters about cars I no longer owned, which possibly may mean the current correct owner did not. I have even got communications asking me ''how did you find the service today at xxxx dealership''....despite not owning the particular car any more, and it certainly not being me that had taken it in..!!

Being a hater of manual transmissions I could interject here and make some comment in the vein of "Should have got an auto transmission..." but the old saying about people who live in glass houses not throwing stones comes to mind!

In fact, I was speaking to an auto transmission specialist recently and he said that the 6 speed Geartronic transmissions can have problems with the valve body and that he has had to do a couple of repairs that cost around A$1500 (GBP 800) but not any full stripdown / rebuilds as yet.
