Default BCM electronic parking brake 2008 S80

Yesterday I decided to try my electronic hand brake pre MOT. The brakes engaged and released fine. After 2 minutes driving ‘Hand Brake service Require’ and yellow triangle illuminated. I’ve experienced this problem before plugged in Vida and tried to ‘Set angle and calibrate’. This reported it had completed successfully. Almost immediately after driving I was greeted by the Red triangle and warning bell. I have tried Vida again both service mode, apply brake and release brake. Every option does not complete and now reports unable to communicate with BCM. Any advice please.

These earlier cars suffered with faults with the parking brake module? A lot got replaced. Do you know if the one fitted is still original?

Thanks for reply. I've downloaded the wiring diagram and managed to use a 9v battery to wind on and off the motors. Going to replace the parking brake switch tomorrow. If I don't have any joy then a phone call to volvo diagnostics.

It's usually the parking brake control module that needs replacement. It's not integrated into the switch.
