Default Weld Crossmember - need garage jig?

A rear crossmember is rusty on my Volvo 850 GLT, I was told it wasn't too bad, could be welded, can anyone tell me if this weld job needs putting up on ramps/jig in a commercial garage or can be done in the back yard?
Cheers, Steve

I would imagine you would only need a jig if said cross member has actually fallen off!
Assuming it is still attached in its rusty state, simply re-weld it

thanks for that. Rather than get a garage to do it in house I could get a (competent) friend to do it then I hope.

Yeah, I don't see why not.
If you were a little nearer to me, I'd do it for you
