Had the ex-plod V70 T5 nearly 2 years now, and its costing a bloody fortune to run.
The next plan is a V50 r-design, but unsure about what to have powering it. Obviously its going to be a vast improvement to the T5, the D5 seems the obvious choice, but is the 2.0D any better at all regarding economy? After all it's still a big weight to get moving. Cheers in advance.

Yes the 2.0D is better for economy over the D5 but it is a choice of power over economy, although the 2.0D engine suites the V50 very well and is a nice balance between power and economy. You can also do a DPF delete (if applicable) along with a remap for even more horses out of the 2.0D and you'd be kicking on the doors of a standard D5.
If dropping from a T5 I think a D5 would be a good a natural choice for me anyway. Remap a D5 and your back to T5 power with better economy. ![]() |

A remapped D5 will produce about 220bhp ish, 470nm torque and return 42 mpg with a generous amount of spirited driving.
The D5 has the twin pipes in rear bumper and 320mm (Focus ST) brakes as std. Also. The 5 pot makes a lovely noise
