Default Help! My r is stranded!

Hi,
As above , my R wont start and is stranded!
Scenario is this..
Been using the R every day , haven't ever had any starting issues before . My mate took the car out a short run today, and tonight went to start the car and nothing happened...
Ie Keys in , half turn all lights come on as they should , all electrics work in the car like fan ( currently off , internal and external lights work) and on turning to activate the starter - nothing! No clicks or starter turning!
Tried to jump start in the off chance but definitely not the battery as same result.
Swapped the relay with another of the same and same result.
Dont know where the starter motor is to look at it if ut was that.
The car locks and unlocks fine, indicators flashing and internal lights going out ok.
I'm not tech savvy and need help/suggestions (diagrams or in children speak please! ) plus unfortunately don't have breakdown cover! :/
PLEASE HELP !

Steve

Just to clarify the fuel pump primes when you turn half way:lights on etc, there's just no noise whatsoever when u turn the key fully .

open bonnet and run a wire from the battery + to the positive of the starter solinoid if you look directly down you should see it from centre of the engine thios may get it going

Ignition barrel electric part could have binned it, common fault. Try the starter method first and if it turns over then you know problem is likely ignition

That'll be to the THIN wire on the solenoid won't it?
Just checking as am having the EXACTLY same problem on my 940 and so want to bypass all possible wiring faults t'ween battery and starter motor.
Doing this will, I assume, bypass ignition switch and start inhibitor switch etc.etc and will turn starter motor over even with ignition off???

Car definitely in P or N?

Definitely try the starter, for further clarification it is at the bottom right of the inlet manifold.

Or, remove the ring that goes around the ignition barrel and wipe it and reinstall (takes 10 minutes, just remove the cowling from around the steering column and you get access to the 'ring'), it will usually turn over at least though if this is faulty but worth a try.

Steve, Sorry for suggesting the obvious, but you're not trying to start it in other than Park/Neutral are you.....it is an auto I believe.

Yep..and wondered if the selector was changing ok ie from P to N to D etc and it is as far as I can tell cos the reverse lights come on when I run through them with the ignition "on"
