Hello everyone.
I've got problems with my 1991 t40 and the breather system. I had it into a garage and they replaced the oil separator as he said it was full of cream and really thick.so after a wash of the engine an a week later I was still getting a burning oil smell from the engine bay esp at the rear of it. After a bit of investigating a found a slow n stead drip of oil from the exhaust manifold at no 2 cylinder and I also found the breather on the cam cover had blown off and also on occasions the dipstick would be popped up. so today I stripped the car to get access to the breather pipes and oil separator. I found I little hard debris in the pipe from the cam cover to the o/s but nothing more. Is there anything I've missed. Also, a little different but one day I had no turbo and after removing the heat shield and burning my fingers off I found the actuator wasn't connected to the gate on the exhaust. I fixed this with an r clip. But the actuator seems to want to pull up instead of slide out and in. any help guys would very appreciated. |

Getting a compression test done on sat as someone suggested piston rings as there has been a splatter of oil on boot lid n bumper from exhaust when I've got the foot Down.. also said that could be why pressure is high in crankcase.

Would a head gasket cause such pressure in the crankcase to blow dipstick out and top breather hose? Also water is good and not put oil in it since service 4 weeks ago. There isn't any smoke (there was as I had a miss fire at 4-5000 revs. Changed plugs n sorted that) but no blue smoke but it's giving splatters of oil on back end of car, then I thought, if it's piston rings surely the engine would burn the oil? No? Also when I took of the inlet pipe to the manifold there is oil residue in the chamber.

Well I suppose I better finish this post since everyone's waiting with baited breath n would like to thank everyone for there help with this problem I had
The breather from the top of oil separator that runs with a water pipe round the cylinder head to the inlet pipe to turbo, was clogged so I have been to the scrap yard and picked up a hose to fit (a powersteering hose from a pug boxer van) bypassed the existing pipe started it up and ran rough at idle at first but soon settled. Took it a run up the motorway to clear the exhaust etc, and now it runs perfect with no leaks no smoke or spitting from the rear even at 140+ |
