Default Turbo waste gate actuator rattle

Well I finally located a rather anoying little rattle/buzz at 1700 rpm, whilst prodding around at the weekend I tapped the linkage mechanism on the turbo waste gate and the actuator spring (inside) rattled. Any suggestions on how to get rid of the rattle/buzz it creates withou having to replace it?

I think the spring in the actuator should be under slight tension even at idle, shouldn't it?

Therefore if it's rattling I'd fear the actuator needs replacing. I don't think they're a serviceable item unless you're prepared to grind it open and re-weld.

Cheers, Pete

Search this forum and s40concepts, you undo the retaining clip on the actual wastegate side of the turbo, turn the nut and flat piece on the end of the arm to tighten it then refit.

I assume this just takes the slack out of the spring - silly question but do you shorten or lengthen - will search though.

Thanks again
