Genuine lockheed servo?
I am going to change my Girling brake servo for the lockheed as I would like to be sure I will stop when I want to! A previous thread has indicated the servo as sold by MGB hive will fit the Amazon but also there are apparently two types differing in quality. Can anyone confirm that the one listed on their website will be OK to fit and is it the genuine one as it is listed as "Lockheed type".

Knock off
The MG/Jaguar people near me in Oldbury sell both repro and Lockheed servos. The genuine one is more expensive but will be worth it for peace of mind I reckon. Based on the price I'd say that the one you've found is a repro and I wouldn't bother with it.
When you fit the servo take care with the fitting position, the Lockheed doesn't like being horizontal like the Girling. There are clear instructions online and in the box, I believe. The genuine part is listed as made by AP (Automotive Products) and is on the David Manners website: http://www.jagspares.co.uk/Abingdon/...?partno=GSM125

Many thanks Volvorama. I had a feeling it probably wasn't a genuine part as Brookhouse sell it with all the bits for over £200. When I spoke to Simon at Brookhouse some while ago he said you needed a one way valve fitted to the rubber hose. The Girling hasn't got this so is the valve necessary?

When everything cools down after a run it stops anything in the pipe (oil vapour, etc.) from being sucked back into the workings of the servo.
I couldn't understand why the little steel shuttle in the servo under the big white inlet valve assembly kept sticking and causing the brakes to "lock on" momentarily. A one-way valve stopped that. |

Thanks for the reply Swallow. So it probably is a good idea to put it in which I will duly do.

Now ordered one thanks. If anyone has any design for a bracket that can be connected directly on the Original Girling one I would be grateful.

This Lockheed kit on the nordicar website shows what appears to be a bracket to mount one on the mounts for the OEM Girling servo (Scandcar also used to sell a similar mounting bracket but can't find it on their site):
http://www.volvo-carparts.co.uk/remb...-lockheed.html Pics below show one of these brackets installed.
