Unhappy Engine Missfire when cold

Just a quickie,

My S60 2001 T5 SE has a missfire which lasts for about 30 seconds when cold. As soon as I pull off the drive it is sweet as ever and does not miss a beat all day.

Today whilst driving off as soon as the lumpy start went away the warning message came up on the screen about emmissions and service required.

The car has 45K and was serviced by a main dealer at 42K.

Is this likely to be spark plugs or a coil pack?

Took the car to Claytons Mansfield were a quick plug in to the OBDII showed a missfire fault logged for cylinders 1 & 3. The car is in mint condition. Has no hint of the head gasket going ...temperature rock steady....no emulsification in the header bottle or filler cap. No loss of water etc.

Are these cars prone to damp causing a short missfire on start up?

Thanks in advance

Chris

Not usually but it would be worth removing the coil packs from the two cylinders affected to see if there's any tracking etc visible.

You could try swaping the ciol packs between cylinders to se if the misfire moves with the coil pack or not.

The cold start misfire could be due to leaking injectors, the car seems to have very low mileage so the injectos could be gummed up from lack of use and/or supermarket fuel, it may be worth using some injector cleaner in the fuel for a while.
