AW55-50SN Auto box
Sadly the auto gearbox on my '04 V70 Geartronic has deteriorated to the point where I either replace it or have it overhauled.
I have already tried stripping and repairing the solenoids and then last week I fitted a new valve body from ebay, from one-stop-gearbox-shop for £330 but after a long trip this week it's now started slipping in 1st and 2nd although still perfect in 3rd and above. Mine has P 8667365 and also 03LV724648 in black on the white sticker with the bar code also there is another sticker with 8667365 in red numbers on a green background and again 03LV724648 in black text on white. Anyone got one for sale, or know where a good one is? Keith

What revision valve body did you get from one stop? Are they the codes from the gearbox as in a volvo part no for it? How long have you run the new valvebody for? Out of interest would you be interested in selling the gearbox loom that attached to the valvebody? Or letting me know a volvo part no for it.

Hi jgj, my car is an '04.
The valve body was a C casting and looks exactly the same as the one I took off, even to the position of the connectors on the solenoids. I think the P number is the Volvo part number - was hoping someone would say! I fitted the valve body a week ago and have now done 650 miles since then. When I fitted it, I simply unplugged the old body and plugged in the new using the original loom. I don't know how the loom comes out or what the part number is sorry. It started working correctly and all was well but once the atf reached temp it began flaring on the 2-3 change, just as it had done on the repaired valve body - so I spent £330 for nothing! By the end of the week it began slipping in first and second if I put my foot down but once in third it's just fine.

Just to round off the story, I finally changed the gearbox with another from a breaker and all is now working properly.
I used A1 Motors in Kingswood, Bristol and they were excellent and reasonably priced. They are a small breaker with parts kept in storage under cover. They break all kinds of cars and sell parts on eBay. I recommend them and if you need anything give Ivan a call on 07427666660 and he'll let you know if he 's got the part you need. So I now have an almost new valve body for sale! If anyone's interested give me a call on 07742 694322. Also during this whole episode I was tempted many times to take it apart myself but was always put off by the complexity and scare stories. Having now seen the inside myself, I wish I'd had a go because the first and second gear plates came off easily in seconds and if I'd had replacements I think I could have solved it myself for little money, which is what I would have preferred!
