Modified Volvos.
Hello Kate,
Thats a fine invitation for those frequenting this very busy site. However, you will find most of those modifying and running late model Volvos are generally to be more often found at www.t5d5.org. I would suggest you post up there as well. Regards, Don.

Here is a link to the PPC Magazine news page. The only thing I was wondering is if it's going to be a VOC display stand or if it's just going to be an area for Volvo's of any sort ?
http://www.ppcmag.co.uk/news.asp My car isn't hugely modified but it should be a good day out if it's ok to just come along. |

Saturday May 23 2009 Mallory Park
PPC in the Park is Europe’s most exciting new event for car enthusiasts. No other show combines non-stop live action on the track, some of the most amazing cars ever built on display in the paddock, and the chance to see PPC’s very own 27-litre V12 Rover and turbocharged Rolls Royce track-day car in action. You can become part of the action by booking track time for you and your car at just £12.50 per session (booked in advance). You can also watch the PPC £999 Challenge contestants battling it out to become the 2009 champion in the fastest car you can build for less than £1000. Slightly more expensive is the Dodge Dakota jet-powered truck which will be firing up its monster engine with afterburner. Then there’s PPC feature cars, the PPC team and their cars (including editor Will Holman’s 5-litre V8 Capri). And PPC’s technical guru, Dave Walker, will be holding a live Walker’s Workshop demonstration. To top it all we’ll be having a few shandys in the evening with a marquee and bar from the Ace Cafe - so bring your tent because camping’s completely free. PPC in the Park is 2009’s must-attend event. 27-litre Rover SD1 PPC’s Rolls Royce turbo PPC team and Staff Cars PPC feature cars (incl Duel Control BMW) All-day track action PPC £999 Challenge Lawn mower racing Power tool drag racing Jet powered truck Auto testing Burnouts from the N.A.S.C. Auto jumble Discount track time Evening entertainment Walker’s Workshop live Tuning part trade stands Rolling roads Data logging seminar Kit car rides. Attractions include above list. Advance ticket bookings are rewarded with a free limited edition PPC in the Park T-shirt, to collect on the day, and free car parking on the day. Tickets £17 (under 16’s free) Evening Entertainment £10 £999 Challenge £50 (including show entrance) Track time per 15 mins £12.50 (booked in advance) Camping Friday and Saturday FREE Parking FREE (if tickets booked in advance, £1 on the day) |

I think PPC is more aimed at slightly older cars, Don. I'm sure all are welcome, but flicking through the pages, it's primarily filled with stuff from the "retro" era.
I believe a delegation from both Volvo300Mania and Turbobricks will be turning up, so there ought to be plenty of Volvo love going on cheers James

I think Don would probably include 850s in "late model Volvos". I think his point was that the VOC isn't so much a haven for tuners, more general enthusiasts...whereas the likes of T5D5 (for the FWD era) Turbobricks (for the RWD era) are. That's not to say that there aren't tuning / modification enthusiasts here...but it's argueably more focused on tuning on those sites. I say the more people know about it, the better.
Having said that, PPC really isn't aimed at modern cars...at least the way I read it. While I'm sure the phase 2 T5 crowd would be welcome...turbocharged 240s are more where PPC are at. cheers James
