LPT Engine whistles
Hi, me again.
My "new" 940 SE LTP has a two-tone engine note on full throttle. A lower "normal" note and a high whine. I don't think its the turbo, more likely belts. The seller, after I had given him my dosh, warned me to keep the oil level up to avoid starving the turbo, which he had been warned would make a high pitched scream if so abused. (A phenomenon I never experienced with my GLE, despite it getting low several times as it deteriorated.) I have had issues with a noisy timing belt tensioner before, but that was different to this. (mmm?) Anyone got any comments? Needless to say your ideas are only the starting point of an investigation.
