Red face Help to the right place please

Hi all, just going my hands on a s40 sx 1.6 year 2000 as my other car off the road, I changed the oil and plugs but still use way to much fule,could some one be so kind to point me the right place to get some idear what it could be

The 1.6 is the most uneconomical engine in teh X40 range, as it is quite small for the weight of the car. So don't be that surprised if the mpg is quite low. Saying that, if your mpg is too low, then you may have a problem indeed. Reading the engine codes would be a good start. It could be something as simple as the MAF being dirty and reading the wrong air volume
