V70 T5 - Stuttering
Guru's I need your help.
After having a few 960s 940s and a lovely 244 I moved to subaru and Toyota but Been hankering for a v70. Been after a T5 for some time and bought a 250bhp auto from Yorkshire which I ended up selling to another forum member as it was uneconomical to repair a month ago. So after viewing some cars and located a '04 2.4 T5 with a auto (which is honestly what I was after) had loads spent on it, had matching tyres and everything worked but was sold with a issue with the car stalling randomly. I offered a cheeky offer and it was accepted. The previous owner was very genuine and stated car had just completed a 2k trip to Slovenia but a few days later the car stalled and was trailered to a garage. After some diagnostics via the PEM fuel module the mechanic deemed the fuel pump was dead. A genuine pump was ordered from Gothenburg and fitted for £750 and the car lasted a few days and again stalled and spluttered and died, after turning the car off and on again it runs but you have to feather the accelerator as if you try to give it some power it struggles. This is when I buy it and then did the following. So things I have done. -Filled premium fuel with some redex. No change. -New Bosch fuel filter as it has a very tired Volvo one fitter (possibly original) PEM Fuel pressure module replaced, I've been told 2004 T5 and v70r have a unique PEM but data is confusing as some online suppliers list generic ones that work which I fitted. Since doing the fuel filter and PEM - reconnected the battery the EML light was still on but cleared after a minute of running. Power was restored for about 40 minutes with no EML light and full power. BUT after stopping and idling the car felt like it was missing then when I tried to pull away the EML was flashing the went off, the car splutters and you can not give it more than 30% throttle. I have ordered a new fuel pressure sensor but have no VIDA to check other codes modules. Any help would be great or pointers. Does this sound like ETM as the one in the car was replaced/rebuilt in 2021. Pictures to follow

As far as I can tell the PEM offers ground to the fuel pump and it either works or doesn't.
The PEM -Fuel Pump Control Module listed for the T5 is Bosch 30636431 and is fitted to the side of the fuel filter. I have conflicting forum posts, some say the PEM's are unique to the T5' and V70r models but some forums also state they are a universal unit and I fitted 30769225. (FCP euro and autodoc list 30742823 as fitting and 30769225 is interchangeable). The units apparently are the same Bosch/Ford units and where it's fitted to the car inside or metal or plastic fuel tank denotes the part number. The car runs with both and I believe my problem is elsewhere, next in line is the fuel pressure sensor.

probably proper fault code read with VIDA is the best course of action to know the actual fault rather than firing parts at it even if you are being pretty logical about it..
where abouts in london are you, if you can get to Dagenham one evening I could read it for you |

I've been looking for a old laptop and the software, but most laptops have poor batteries and I'm not sure I can navigate the software. Very kind of you dear sir. I will take you up on the offer. I'm in South London but would need to see if it can be driven further without cutting out. I'll PM you next week if that's ok by you.

Stuart has kindly offered to read the codes for me. So thank you bud.
Had some time today, I checked the spark plugs, bit of long shot and it had mixed FR7DPP and FR7KPP Bosch fitted. I've ordered genuine plugs from PFV. Not sure if this will do anything as the car runs great with no misfires until it's under load then misbehaves when hot. New Bosch Fuel pressure sensor arrived and fitted. No change. The one thing I've noticed is the fuel pump is buzzing like the two tone of police sirens (if that makes sense) seems to be erratic and not consistent buzzing. The chap I bought the car off has a receipt for a new fuel pump which was from Gothenburg as as I recall him saying it had four pin plug (or five) so was special order. Eitherway he paid £500+ and a garage to replace it, I can't access the main fuel pump location as yet but the secondary access hole should have been removed to pull through the cables but it looks like it has not been touched as there is lots of dirt where plastic ring that screws into the tank. I'm thinking the pump has not been replaced, what are your thoughts 🤔 Right I've now removed the main access area for the Fuel pump and not sure if it's changed as they all look off white. But the brown wire on top looks odd and not OEM. https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...1&d=1717696648 The brown wire is connected to the metal access cover on one of the bolts.
