Default D5 DPF temp sensor

As fitted to a 2010 185 e4 engine.

Anyone know the part number and whether its DIY to change?

Thanks

Can't help with the number you would be best getting it from a dealer anyhow. On my s60 it just plugs in behind the engine so as long as your have the suitable socket to get it out I can't see why it won't be a diy fit.

Jolly good.

VIDA seems to suggest the same.

Now, I wonder does my car have one or two sensors!

I do like having my own VIDA sometimes, no need to worry about particle weight just yet

Arh yes the money I have saved having vida dice also. Tho you can look the part number up since you have vida no? My version has the parts list Ect but the lap top it's on is sadly no more so in the middle of trying to get it to work on my current one.

Might be worth taking the sensor out first and giving it a clean before assuming you need a new one...

Not a bad idea.

Going to drive the car today and see if I can 'trip' the system back in to the fault whilst monitoring with VIDA.

Last night it was showing temps of around 50c (engine off) and I cleared the DTC successfully.

If its just a case of needing a new sensor, ill probably just pay the money and change it, I cant afford for the car to keep randomly dropping in to limp mode on the way to work etc

Probably new sensor required. Had the same issue back in 2011, luckily replaced under warranty then.
Surprisingly quite a few similar failures that happened to 2010 models if memory & forum history serves...

I drove the car up to the dealer yesterday (about 10km).

Drove there fine, but as soon as I restarted the (warm) engine I was back in limp mode.

My car has two sensors, one before and one after the DPF, so ive ordered the pre-DPF sensor (which is the 'DPF temp sensor', the rear sensor being a more traditional lambda-sond according to the dealer).

Hoping that will fix it, if not will go back and order the 2nd one too. Picking up the part this afternoon and will hopefully have time to fit tonight or tomorrow.

Price for the sensor was 100euro direct from the dealer, which compares very favourably to the eBay prices ive seen at around 75GBP.

I picked up the sensor today.

Typically, what should be a 5 min job is an absolute pig.

Access is horrendous, and theres no room to turn a spanner on it.

Ill try and get myself a 17mm flare socket tomorrow, otherwise ill drag the bugger up the road to my local fixer and he can take care of it.

I hate cars sometimes!

I removed my dpf to clean it, once the cover is off (4 bolts) the dpf is only attached to the exhaust by 5 bolts and as long as they're not seized they are easy to reach (release the rear first).
With the dpf off you can get plenty of welly on the spanner!
