Default 1999 V70 2.5tdi cambelt. Years?

Hi there, very useful forum thanks!!

I just bought an immaculate v70 which very pleased with!

the cam belt was changed at 60000, present mileage 90,000 BUT it was changed in November 2004 so now 6 years ago.

for peace of mind I'm going to change it again anyway but :

how long will a cambelt generally last in YEARS? isnt the general rule manufactures guide mileage or 5 years?

thanks for any responses,

jimbofrance

Default Cambelt change...WATER PUMP !!!!!!!!

8 years or 80K miles......I had mine changed at the 8 year interval even though the mileage was only 65K but........last week the water pump seized....a common problem I'm told by the garage and that snapped the belt and then damaged the engine.....I'd definitely check out the W/Pump situation....I didn't know the cam belt drove it!.......

I was told with my S80 it was 110k between every change or eleven years which i felt was abit to long.
