Default 360 GLE Door Mirror

I've got a 1988 360GLE. It would appear that the drivers door mirror is flat and therefore does not show the 'blind spot' area very well. Does anyone know if you can get an alternative( not sure if I need convex or concave) to help eliminate this problem. I'd prefer a Volvo product if possible - as I'm not sure about the stick on replacements you see in places like Halfords.

It's not a major problem, but I do drive a couple of different cars, and have to remember to look over my shoulder when driving the 360.

Thanks

Nigel

I THINK Volvo do a replacement mirror glass thats slightly convex. I have this problem myself. The passenger door glass on mine is convex but the driver's door is flat, so all the stuff appears closer than I'm used to in the driver's door. Also as you say it has a larger blindspot area.

I've spoken to the nice people at Hildenborough Volvo an they tell me that the replacement is a flat glass. However the 89 model with electric mirrors are convex. So yes you've guessed it anyone know if I could fit these (easily) to my 88 model.

Thanks in advance

Yes the correct glass replacement for your car is flat, but I've looked through the part numbers and I THINK that these part numbers should give you a convex glass but get someone to check that first before taking the plunge. Parts catalogues can be wrong.

LH mirror - 3287818
RH mirror - 3343842

The electric mirrors would be difficult as all the wiring has to go through the doors into the panel that operates the electric windows, and I wouldn't know where to begin.

Hope that helps

Thanks for your advice. I've ordered a RH glass with Hildenborough Volvo today. Unfortunately they tell me they are on back order and not due in Sweden until early September. So I won't be able to update the post until I receive the mirror glass. Cost is around £14.

Regards
