Default Bluetooth Track selection

I'm just become the proud owner of V60, and while very happy with the car, there is one thing about the bluetooth music streaming that's annoying me.

Bluetooth pairing was painless - I've got a Samsung Galaxy Note 2, it connected without issues, automatically connects when I get in the car.

Music stream works as well. However, it just plays whatever I have selected on the phone. I can do next/previous track, but I can't browse artists/albums etc, the way I can if an iPod is plugged in.

The phone is listed on the Volvo website as being capable of selecting tracks.

It's not a major pain, as I can select an album on the phone before I start driving, but would be nice for longer journeys to actually change albums.

So wondered if anyone has actually got their bluetooth music streaming working in this way, or whether that's just a limitation of the technology.

I just use an old iPod touch series 2 that I leave permanently attached in the car.

yeah, I've got an old iPod, it's just that I don't really use iTunes, so don't want to have to install it just so I can sync up new music onto the iPod. that's my fall back, would just like to know if it's actually expected behaviour, or just random behaviour from my note 2.
