Question XC70 running issue

Hello to all.

I have recently bought a 51 plate XC70 2.4 petrol. Its got a slight issue we knew about when buying but has inevitably got worse.

If its cold it will occasionally struggle to start. When its running its generally under power till the turbo hits. It will have spells of "normal power" when accelerating but is normally struggling. When accelerating it'll accelerate smoothly then (no matter the speed / gear / revs) will "hesitate" and feel under power, but not loose speed, then pick up again its self.

It has had the vacuum system looked for leaks by a garage. I have looked my self and replaced the MAF sensor. There is a ODB message for the maf occasionally P0103. I have read it should read approx 16Kg/h at idle but currently reads about 22Kg/h.

Help please, as I am now out of ideas!!!!

Thank you!

"I have looked myself and replaced the MAF sensor"

Was it a genuine Bosch unit?

Idle should be around 12kg/hr.

As I wasn't sure it would fix it I put an after market unit in. Was that wise!?

These cars don't run properly with non genuine sensors.

You don't need to buy one in a Volvo box but a genuine OEM (Bosch) for the turbo cars will do, these usually around 1/2 the price of the Volvo branded unit.

Use the 10 digit Bosch part No. on the original sensor to find a replacement.

Speaking from experience, go genuine on MAF every time.
I also echo what Chris says about using the Bosch part number. It'll widen your search options as the same unit will be used on multiple manufacturers.
If I remember right, my MAF is also on Alfa's. Not sure if that's good or bad.
I got a recon genuine Bosch from eBay for £30 delivered, which I bet is about what you paid for your generic.
If you have no joy sourcing one and you still have your original Bosch knocking about, you could always try CRC MAF cleaner for £9.99 from eBay.

Thank you for your input. Does 8670623 sound like the Bosch number?
