Default 1999 V70 LHD window switch problem

Evening all. First post here after lurking for a while.

Had the infamous window switch issues with my 99 V70 so got the LHD aftermarket one from eBay. Followed the fantastic instructions from other users on here and rewired the loom accordingly. However the switch isn't working at all. When I plug in the first plug that works the central locking/fuel flap etc, it makes a noise like the central locking is closing and then nothing. The central locking, windows and fuel flap are totally unresponsive. I didn't plug in it before rewiring, as I read that could hump it, before anyone asks!
I plugged the first plug in my old RHD switch and the central locking works flawlessly.
Do you reckon I've just got a dud switch? Not relishing the prospect of trying to get a replacement from China so checking here first in case I've missed anything. Thanks in advance!
