Headlight adjuster
The headlight adjuster next to the light switch in the car doesn't seem to do anything.
I don't hear any whirring when I turn the dial. I know the adjusting motors are a weak point on these cars so I went to check it out and can't find it.... This is my N/S headlight...where is the electric adjuster? Screenshot 2024-02-15 154929.jpg

So did these cars come without them? Strange that I have the dial, but not the motor...

The MOT is due on Saturday so I'm jumping at conclusions here....
It's either because someone has removed the motors and replaced them with manual adjusters, and not bothered to remove the dial next to the headlight switch. Or... Because it has the 4C suspension it doesn't need the manual adjustment inside the cabin because it does this itself...... Another car showing no electric adjusters.... https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/fo...ic.php?t=17698 Parts manuals are showing "For cars with beam hight adjustment." and there's a software update mention that says "Low-beam 1 application 2005- without headlamp beam adjustment To add "low beam on" funtion in all light switch positions except parkinglight position." So it sounds like there is an option to not have beam height adjustment.

Hi Ollie,
There are 3 versions of light adjustment: manual, electric (wheel) and automatic (no wheel). You have manually adjusted lights. The ones in Onewheel's photo are electric. The automatic ones have another T loom above the adjuster. If you have 2 wheels on your light selector, you've either had a selector change or light unit change. If the latter, you'll see the looms tucked into the engine bay behind the lights. Best regards, Rich. |

presumably as long as there is at least one method of adjustment, and they're adjusted correctly, the MOT is a pass (on that one bit anyway)
they're reasonably easy to set by yourself, just park facing a wall and get the beams to the same height |

I've had the odd occasion where a headlight has needed a slight adjustment during MOT time and the tester just does it there and then without even mentioning it

No need to remove the lights. Any unused looms/ connectors wil be quite obvious tucked in behind the lights.
