volvo 850 fault code reader

Hi all recently purchased a Nreg 1996 850 2.5 se I am trying to find out what system it operates. Is it jetronic 3.2 or motronic 4.3 any help would be much appreciative many thanks.

If a 10V it will be fitted with Siemens Fenix 5.2

The OBD diagnostics port under the coin tray in the 1996 & 1997 Volvo 850 models is not fully OBDII compliant and therefore is a bit of a hit or a miss when it comes to connecting to the system. The Volvo System Tester (VST) is the real deal but rare and very expensive, Ilexa VOL-FCR is the ‘go-to’ PC based programme that works but requires the cost of the software, a compatible lead and a Windows XP computer.

I opted for the xiaotec 850 OBD-II app available from Google Play, it requires an Android phone and a compatible OBDII Bluetooth ELM adaptor but caution is required as not all ELM adaptors will work on the Volvo 850.

HI 4x4 the car is 20 valve. I have a cheap obd11 reader which reads i think the engine ecu this may give a better idea what system is operating.

Should be a Bosch LH-3.2/EZ-129K system then
