Default XC90 catches fire whilst charging

I know it’s a Daily Fail link, but http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...-driveway.html

I was going to make a flippant comment about preheating the car seems to work for this guy, but thought better of it.

Fortunately no injuries.

I used to work in the grounds maintenance and the golf course industry. Some of the machines were battery powered and unfortunately this was not uncommon .
One particular golf course lost a complete building with thousands of pounds worth of machines.

funny how Volvo dont have his insurers details but he is having to chase them for progress... someone is being a little economical (probably the Daily Fail!)

It was an expensive garage door if that is £3k of damage to house!

Last garage door when replaced was around £800 but they did seem to go to silly money if electric, insulated, powered etc. But, more likely the £3k includes clean up of smoke damage which is bound to have got everywhere.

As said depending on specification they can be very expensive.

Additionally you may have damage to the drive, replacement of the charging socket and any smoke damage (evidence of the heat above the garage door).

Our replacement door being fitted soon is a roller double skinned insulated electric door - installed made to order a little over £2k. But should help keep the garage far warmer and as our garage is attached to the house reduce needless heat waste (he says justifying it to the boss - the rest of the garage will probably have spent about another 1500-1700 on - worth it in my view!)

As time goes by I am more and more convinced I made a right decision choosing a D5 over a T8..

Indeed - a good door is worth every penny. It is more my dislike of the Fail coming through... they did manage to get the house prices into the story though....

It always makes me laugh how they do this with house prices. And women’s ages, but not men. Weird.

I'm surprised the DM didn't comment on the heritage of the partner with the foreign sounding name.

They did manage to get in the age difference... and according to one bit he is quoted but seems to refer to her by her full name (or have I misread that!)

Crap paper - but then most of them are!
