Chip boxes - opinions
Sorry if this is not the right place. I'm toying with the idea of getting my D5 euro 3 163 chipped. I had looked at getting it RICA'd and they are currently discounted. I perhaps made the mistake of having a gander on ebay and I got literally hundreds of these tuning boxes. Now my previous Golf was chipped and it was done at half price (VW forum offer) so it was rude not to. Chap did his thing via the service port. Now i see there are these boxes that plug into said service port thing. Financially they're around 100 pounds (ish), surely they must be popular purely on cost?. Any thought's please on this minefield of a subject..............

Can't recommend one type above any other as I don't have first hand experience, however stay well away from the ebay stuff - one chap on the Volvo Performance Car Club now has a non runner following fitting a chip off ebay. Stick with the usual (UK) specialists - HLM, SW Autos, Superchips, etc (sorry if I missed anyone here).
