Default Failed the MOT:(

on headlight alignment!........and then they told me they can't adjust the headlights!

Apparently 11 year old V40's are like Audis and need to have a machine plugged into the ECU to correct the alignment....

This is all bollocks right?

Sounds dubious to me - there are adjusting screws on the headlights, as you would expect.

Yeah, thought so. I know it had new levellers last year too. Bloody chimps!

They set my EML off as well. Tried to make out it was already on but then admitted that it came on while revving it for doing the fast idle test.

All lies, you have full adjustment on the lights as you will see yourself when you look at them.

Took it to a different MOT place round the corner to get the lights sorted. He said the passenger one was absolutely fine, and the drivers side, while slightly low, was within tolerances and passed the car.

Didn't even get advisories that the other garage said.

This is one of the reasons I will only go to a MOT station rather than a garage that does MOT's too.
